The creative industries are an economic force in Colorado as the interface between creativity, culture, economics, and technology in a contemporary world dominated by images, sounds, texts, and symbols increases. Today, Colorado is among the leading destinations for creative artists and entrepreneurs to develop and promote their craft or products.
Trinidad-Las Animas County is part of this larger trend in which forward-thinking former coal and manufacturing centers are recovering due mostly in part to a focus on the creative industries. Since 2012, Colorado has formed 21 creative districts which have on average seen a 5% increase in employment and a 6% jump in revenue, compared to the state’s average job growth of 2%.
