Following the successful three-month exhibit of Better Angels, The Firefighters of 9/11, the Creative District now brings two literary programs to Trinidad, beginning with an AUTHOR MARKET PLACE.
On Saturday, December 4, 2021 from noon to 6 pm, local poets and writers will be featured in the Creative District’s Gallery at the Commons, 210 West Main, Trinidad, CO. The event will allow visitors to meet authors and poets, hear them read from current work, have the authors sign books, and quiz them about how and why they do what they do.
Featured will be poet Kate Kingston, reading from her soon-to-be-published book and her earlier published work. One can reserve a copy of her new book at this event. Also featured will be Michele McDannold, a resident in the Space to Create Artspace Lofts, who is a poet and a publisher. She will give tips on how to navigate the world of publishing and self-publishing. Poet Hilary DePolo whose character poems have been published with works of art from contemporary Colorado artists will read and talk about the development of character in poems.
All authors will be available for a Question and Answer dialogue regarding the art of writing.
The AUTHOR MARKET PLACE is free and open to the public. The next literary program sponsored by the Trinidad Creative District will be an ongoing Second Saturday Open Mic, popular at earlier Art Walk events. Beginning on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 5pm to 7 pm, also held at the Creative District’s Gallery at the Commons, 210 W Main Street, local authors in all genres are welcome. Open Mic evenings are also free and open to the public.
Sponsored in part by the Trinidad Community Foundation and the City of Trinidad Community Grant Program, the Creative District is pleased to increase the availability for local literary opportunities.
